That's a weird video. I mean, it seems like the kind of video some fan would make and put on YouTube (but with really high-quality old footage).

Green things in Hawaii: 1) Fur-like seaweed (hair almost as sandy as mine) at one of Kauai's North Shore beaches, 2) Green linckia sea star!! (scuba diving on the Big Island), 3) Some sort of grasshopper thing, outside our rental house in Kekaha, 4) Soft sink-my-fingers-into-it seaweed in a tidepool at Wawaloli, close to the home of Loli Longs.

Here's a large version of the last picture, because I like it (and because you can see the texture better). And here's one more green thing, which didn't look good small: wing beans, from the South Kona Fruit Stand. I wanted to buy them, but I have to admit that I didn't. Dean seemed to think they looked kind of weird. (They were quite... feathery.)

This is how the sky looked when I walked out of the Corbins SBUX this evening (semi-pixelly Zi photo, sorry). Messy and dramatic. There were no seats at Corbins, but I was still glad I ordered a for-here cup, even though I had to drink it standing up. Christmas shopping in Westfarms today wasn't bad at all. Other than the slightly more populated than usual Starbucks, it was actually kind of quiet.

Here are some yellow things in Hawaii. 1) Little crown-of-thorns' belly (here's a better view) (the black thing is my gloved hand), 2) my new Crocodiles (Dean and I each got a pair of Crocs in Kauai; his are crocogator colored), 3) yellow dragon fruit (the best kind!) from South Kona Fruit Stand, 4) sunset over the lava rocks. Future topics: orange things in Hawaii and green things in Hawaii.

It sure is dark. Being sick is no fun, mostly because it makes sleeping a giant struggle and not restful, since my throat gets a lot worse when I lie down. However, I am really appreciating 1) multi-lane highways, and 2) my dear old Rocky Hill Starbucks! (Lots lots lots.) I finally went to SBUX for the first time since I've been home, at about 4:30 tonight. So familiar and comforting. The Conscientious Guy and Caitlyn were there, along with a new guy (!! scary!). C.G. and Caitlyn knew my order, and as I was standing by the bar waiting for it, this other lady walked up with her cappuccino, which she wanted re-made. She explained to Caitlyn, "Cup of foam." Caitlyn and I both cracked up, and Caitlyn said something about how she must've made it for the wrong person. After she finished my drink and I tried it, I went back and told her, "This is wonderful--thank you," and she smiled all glowingly. Cup of foam.

Oh man!!! I got the BEST card in the mail, from Duke!! It's completely cracking me up (very hoarsely) and making me grin like a loon. :-)

Here's what came in the mail while I was away for a month: FIVE New Yorkers, one People magazine (delivered to the wrong address), the winter issue of FOAM magazine, a Netflix DVD, a Special Invitation to the Scuba Shack Grand Re-Opening [under new Madman Maniac management] Tent Sale (EVIL of Dean, putting that in my pile!!), a Fabric Store CLOSING ENTIRE STORE NOW flyer/coupon (ends on or before 12/3/06), two Jo-Ann Fabrics flyers, two Shaws flyers, six GREAT pieces of Real Mail from people I like (Susie, MUD, and Hunter), and two boxes from me (sent from Hawaii and Kauai--and I can't believe the second one arrived already).

I couldn't fall asleep until an insane o'clock (well past morning) last night (cough, cough), so I'm in a very zombielian state. But that card helped. :-)

!!!Cashier at Shaws: "Find everything okay?"
Me: "Yep! ...It was great."

She either thinks, 1) I'm being sarcastic, or, 2) I'm really weird. But I meant it. We have wonderful grocery stores here in Connecticut.

When I started my car (for the first time in a month) to go out and buy food since we had none in the house, "Spirit On the Water" started playing. And it was so perfect.

I have a cold but I'm recovering. My voice is hoarse and I like it better that way.
