That was so fun! We flew to Stewart and saw all the lurkies, but the Lurky Lounge was closed (early, just today) so we had lunch at Orange instead. All the Stewart guys were insanely nice. Insanely. The FBO was huge and beautiful with lots of wood and leather chairs, and there were all these Boeing 727s and other huge planes taking off and landing--we were the only little one. After we got back from Rick's, it was really difficult to push Tango back into his spot because the tiedown area isn't plowed (the snow's so hard and iced over, you can drive on it) and Dean was pushing and pushing and barely moving Tango because his feet kept slipping. I had to get out and help (instead of manning the rudders), and I pushed Dean while he pushed Tango. It was really fun and funny, and we kept laughing. It took a while to get him back in place (lined up properly with the tiedowns), but we did it.

Wow. Today's there's a hard crust of ice over all the icy snow, and it's very easy to walk on top. It was really difficult to chip the ice off my car's windshield, but it was kind of fun standing on top of the snow, feeling very tall while I was working on it. It's still not all off, but it's good enough so that I could drive over to Shrunkin'. Yesterday I tried to make coffee at home and it was undrinkable. (Partly because the half & half I bought specially for Snow Day at the Ber C & D turned out to be thick as yogurt and I didn't find out until some of it sludged out into my cup. But that wasn't the only reason.) By the way, those Vosges exotic caramels Dean got me are really, really good. They taste extremely real. The first one I ate flashed me back to homemade butterscotch sauce.

The guys are shovelling the front walk (very loudly) and it sounds and looks like they're having a lot of trouble. Like, they're hatchetting the snow with their shovels. I don't mind, but I imagine someone who's trying to sleep might be a bit agitated.
I went out to get the mail at 6:30 or so, and the snow was so dense, I was able to walk on top without falling through. It was really cool. All those tiny icy particles built up all night and day. If I weighed just a bit more, I wouldn't have been able to (I could feel myself almost breaking through a few times), but I could. Like a mouse. It's hard to tell how deep it is, because it's very drifted, but I think we only got about three inches. Lots of atmospheric blowing wind and icy scrapey window sounds, though. Geez, my eyes are still really messed up. Maybe it's from doing all that St. John stuff on my computer. But it was fun, especially the illustrations and videos. I really enjoyed that.

Snow Day (more like Ice Day--here are two views out my window right now!), so I finally finished my St. John entries! They're all on one page, and there's also a link in the archives.
I had a lot fun doing them (over the past couple weeks) and put a lot of work into it. I sort of slacked at the time, and they were very sketchy, so much of it was put into words and images later and it ended up rather better than usual, I think. Be sure to read in reverse order, as always, and check out the photos and videos. I included a lot of illustrations, and many of the small images have large versions if you click on them; plus there are tons of links to photos, too.
P.S. While I was working on this today, I was trying to find a photo of a basket star actually stretched out, and I came across this video. Wow.

!!! (x 1,000!) Dean got me an actual present! I can't believe it! I mentioned it on ALB and he got it for me. That's so sneaky!! Wow. And it's something I never, ever would have bought for myself.
Icy fingers teasing across my window all morning, and I expected to look out and see everything smooth and white, but the giant snowstorm was a scam. There's still grass showing through!

An Early Valentine's Day Tale of Rejection (transcribed from a voice-memo recorded by me in the parking lot of the Rocky Hill Starbucks)
I just kept staring at this drink. I knew I couldn't drink it... it was just this milky... latte with about a quarter inch of foam on the top, it was really hot, it was in a latte cup... it didn't even taste like coffee. It tasted like milk. And I just... I couldn't drink it. And I kept thinking, "'Don't be a victim.' You could go up and tell the person that you hate it..." but... that's not why I go to Starbucks. I don't want to complain about my drink, I want to enjoy my drink. So, I did something really passive-aggressive, and I just left the for-here cup, with about three very small sips taken out of it, sitting on the table. The one near the velvet chairs. Completely rejected, with an unused spoon, because there's nothing to use the spoon on, there's no foam. So I just left it there and walked out the door. And... I don't know... that's it.
Oh, and the other part is, I just kept staring at this drink, not wanting to drink it, wanting to get rid of it, but then I realized I couldn't get rid of it, because there's no tray to bring my cup to anymore. I guess I could've gone over and dumped it in the trash, and then brought the empty cup up to the counter, but I didn't really think of that. I just thought: I have this terrible drink, and I can't get rid of it! So I just left it there.
-----
I was kind of cracking up while telling this tale, knowing how silly it was really. But sad, too. Thinking very serious thoughts of dumping Rocky. Now I've got the Everly Bros. song stuck in my head: "We used to have good times together / But now I feel them slip away / It makes me cry to see love die / So sad to watch good love go bad..."

The photo was a mistake (from a few days ago), but it's a fantastically accurate wonky eye illustration! And yeah, my eyes are still in a state of wonk.

I forgot to mention that my eyes have been really wonky, since Friday. I only notice it in the car though. Also, recently (for the past several weeks) I have been very very drawn to seagreen and turquoise. It might snow this week and I am hoping to get snowed in.

I saw this gum near the cash register at the Ber C & D, and I had to buy it. I'm pretty sure it's imported from The Village.
We had brunch at Nancy's! I kept mentioning how the lamb burgers would be part of a baaaaalanced brunch (although I didn't order any this time!). My layer suit was perfect and I wasn't cold at all. I even had to turn down the heat in Tango on the flight home. Then we had to drive around to kill time because we were listening to a Betty and it wasn't over yet. We are obsessed with Bettys, since Dean played one for me last night on the way to dinner at a person's house. I really liked it, although I couldn't bear to listen to another one on the way home. After all those people talking and laughing, I required radio silence.
