We actually had to dig out my car today (with a shovel). Haven't needed to do that for a few years. Usually I just run over the snow and escape, but it was too high.

Don't forget, my new name is Brambles!
Top five Richard Scarry characters from the Storybook Dictionary: a) Brambles, b) Fingers Octopus, c) Smiley Crocodile, d) Crabbie, and, e) Squigley (snake). Lowly Worm isn't in the dictionary, or he'd be on my list, since Lowly is the Best Worm Ever.

My official name is Brambles. That even looks like my comb!
In my next post, I will list my top five fav R.S. characters. #1 = Brambles!

This is so perfect. Brambles = me! No wonder Richard Scarry's storybook dictionary was my favorite book when I was little. I think I love it almost as much now.
Hugest storm of the winter, by far. The snow is much deeper than I thought! We drove my car to Hunan Wok II for Chinese takeout, and it was pretty fun. The roads weren't even plowed! And a slithery icy mix kept obscuring the windshield. My car is good in the snow.

Wow--the snowstorm wasn't a scam! There are four very fluffed-up and confused looking robins huddled in trees in the front yard, and everything else is white.

Just like a mattress balances on a bottle of wine. The sky's 100% overcast and it's one continuous drizzle, but it's still uncoaty out, so I'm happy. And I don't hate Rocky. Rocky's still my pal. Sort of. We're just going through a rough patch. I think the new condiment stand location is pretty clever, actually.
It's too early, but I want: magenta tulips, rhubarb crumble, pollywog eggs, gamboling lambs, polka-dotted umbrellas, a flooding Connecticut River, curly croziers, and shad shad shad shad shad. (What the heck? where would I get rhubarb crumble?)

Stephen Fry's "The Secret Life of the Manic Depressive" is just so good. I watched the whole thing through in one go (on my computer), rapt.
Went to Rocky today (haven't since last week) and the Hipster Dude proclaimed that he was going to make me "world-class foam." It wasn't, but it was good, and, from past experience, the guys who crow about their foam do usually end up becoming great foam makers, because they realise there is such a thing as great foam, and they care. He's not there yet, but he has the potential. Rocky is rearranged again (Frank told me they did it that morning), with the condiment stand in a new spot on the complete opposite side of the store. Frank: "I wonder if they'll put it back?" Me: "I doubt it." The new location does make sense (I think... I haven't seen it in action while the store is crowded), although I don't like it, of course. Poor Rocky. I've just turned against it in my heart, haven't I?

1) The air feels so good. I always forget how wonderful real (not artificial) warm air is. It's insanely comfortable. B) I love these pants (that I got yesterday). Must procure kanban! Which might be difficult, since they were the only pair in my size. But at least they're not out-of-print pants from the consignment store for once. 3) Love the feeling of clean hair. Which is weird, because usually my hair doesn't like being clean. But lately it has.

Tomorrow's forecast: 68° (!!) ... Saturday's forecast: 35° and snow. Well, I do like my coat, I suppose.

I love Daylight Savings Time. And suddenly it's no-more-coat weather. Permanently 'til autumn, I hope.
Last night we flew to Parlin for dinner (to celebrate Dean getting a 98% on his Instrument written exam!), thanks to the later sunset. The River was smooth as glass, mostly melted but still with chunks of white at intervals along the edges. Small bodies of water along the way remain frozen, and the snow's still pretty deep in New Hampshire.
We got the Aaaaltimeter ATC on the way there! Haven't heard his voice in ages. He is the best. I couldn't help grinning every time he said, "Aaaaltimeter." And he's very precise about saying "tree" and "fife."
After Brunch at Nancy's on Sunday, we didn't want the flight home to end, so we took a detour along the River. It was so wonderful; I kept smiling. There were white birds down below, flying with us. When I saw my old pal the ocean I surged with joy. We flew up from the Sound, low over the water, past Essex (shad museum!), past Goodspeed and the Gillette Castle, nearly to the bridge in Middletown. Then we had to begin our descent because we were 10 miles from MMK.
Smead is way past the ceiling now, hitting his head, curling back down. When's he going to stop growing?? He looks demented.
Stephen Fry is a really superb audiobook reader. Not surprisingly, I suppose. I got some new "European Style" yogurt at Trader Joe's. Flavs: mocha and green tea! Just like Meadow Gold. I'm not sure I like the matcha one, though. (Just like Meadow Gold, also.) I want rhubarb.
