Last night I dreamed that I just had to eat fresh tomatoes and bananas (together). Like, this was the most delicious combo ever, or something. It sounds really weird to me--so much so, that I managed to hold onto the memory of the dream by continually thinking how bizarre it was every time I had a flash of lucidity over the next five hours or so until I was fully awake. What the heck's so important about fresh tomatoes and bananas?

I forgot to mention, right before I walked up to talk to the D.B.G., "To Ramona" started playing. I was hesitant to do it, since I'm really shy, but if "To Ramona" was playing, I clearly had to. I'm freezing again, today. I keep taking baths, but I can't seem to get warm.

Ha!! I feel so vindicated. Went to Rocky again today (the store manager served me my cappuccino in a gigantic cup, but at least it was foamy) and sat in my new favorite spot (former location of blue velvet chair; now cozy triangular corner--it's the one spot in the new store that actually appeals to me). While I was reading the Advocate, I noticed the D.B.G. sitting at the table against the wall (the one Dean and I sit at together), working on some art. We sort of nodded and smiled at each other. So after I finished my drink and went up to the bar to leave my empty cup, I stopped by his table and talked to him. Found out all! I confessed my lukewarmness toward the place, and he completely AGREES with me about EVERYTHING. His matter-of-fact assessment of the current Rocky: "It's kind of sucky." He actually stated, "none of the cool people are here anymore," and "it's just not the same," among other things. I also asked him about what happened to the Store Manager and he told me she quit, and that's why he did, too, and he doesn't want to work there under the new regime. See! I'm not crazy. D.B.G. feels the same way.

It's warm. I love it. I drove around with the roof open, and sat on the front step in the sun, crunching a perfect lime popsicle.

More bizarreness at Rocky: the whole store is completely changed around now (don't know when they actually did it, since I've been semi-avoiding going in), with the condiment stand in a new location again (I couldn't find it at first, and was wandering in circles, baffled), and even the blue velvet chairs moved to the other side of the store!

It was like walking into your own living room and finding all the furniture rearranged. Very disconcerting. I kind of liked it in a weird way. Like, if you're going to mix things up, might as well go to extremes. I sat where my blue velvet chair used to be, but now it's a regular chair in a pointy little triangle corner you can kind of snuggle into if you're small. Every time I go to Rocky on Tuesday (weirdly, I always seem to go on Tuesday, although I've been not going on most other days), I see the D.B.G. sitting at a table. That's disconcerting, too.

My room's all full of late-afternoon sun shining in through my chaise arc. It's warm and golden.

"Tomorrow is forecast to be Much Warmer than today." Good, because I'm so soaked-in cold that it will take me about three hours to warm up, and my shoulders need a really good sleep before they'll recover from being in nonstop shiver configuration. I'm not sure which was colder, bitey overcast raw grey outside or the warehouse-like Shaws in Glastonbury. (The one on the Ber is leagues more hospitable!)

P.S. Forgot to mention, our yellow crocuses are out, in the back!

We brought the trees outside today (after their winter hibernation in the basement). And encircled their trunks with snow, so when it melts they can have a drink. Ella is so beautiful all bare of leaves, with her amazing pale peely trunk and zillions of tiny branching branches. I feel like I got run over by a steamroller. Not sure why.

Oh, and I'm going insane wondering why all the flags are at half-mast this week. I even tried to research relevant current events, since I never know anything about events, but to no avail. If I don't find out soon, I'm going to ask Cindy at the post office. [Edit: I am resourceful! I will not have to ask Cindy.]
