I got given the finger for shutting this guy down just now. It was pretty fun. I'm a very polite driver, but hotshots who think they're faster than I am and try to pass me in the righthand lane solely because they have to be ahead of everyone else need to be taught a lesson. Yeah, you're so cool with your muscle shirt and your arm hanging out the window, but it's a Turbo Beetle, idiot, and I'm not afraid to use it. (And, no, I didn't give him the finger back. I just smirked.)

Tuesday when I was getting a haircut, John told me about this great place I should go to get tomatoes, and drew me a really elaborate map of how to get there. I didn't understand it at all. Then I said, "Oh, do you mean Cold Spring Brook Farm???" Yep. It was the Suder Store. I go right by it all the time, but I have no concept of how you'd get there from Kensington. I didn't want to hurt his feelings (he was all excited recommending it) so I acted like I've only ever been there to buy flowers and didn't reveal that I am in fact intimately familiar with the Suder Store. Okay, not that intimately. Anyway, I did take his advice, and went there today and got four nice tomatoes. And Suder was there. He's such a Suder. It's the best.

My hair feels weird this short. I was so used to it being insanely long.

I finally attempted to make rhubarb sauce, but it turned out weird again. Rhubarb sauce is such a mystery to me. At least it tastes nice and rhubarby this time. But it doesn't really look or behave like a sauce. It's more like just big chunks of rhubarb that are somewhat soft and sweet-and-sour tasting. Maybe I didn't cut it into small enough pieces...? I have no idea.

Anyway, yeah, I'm still alive and everything, I just haven't felt postful. Yesterday we hounded at Cheshire and Saturday we went to Block Island and hounded to Vail. It was nice. I got all wet. (Borrowed Dean's crocs again.) I set Vail Beach as a location on my guy (the exact coordinates of our fav rock that we always snag!). Biking to Vail wasn't too hard! It's not far at all, although it's hilly. (But nowhere near as hilly as around here.) The hills are well spaced, so there's lots of alternating between fairly gradual ups and nice long downs. The only really impossible hill is the one to the airport.

Cat Stats from BI:

I tried a lobster roll from Rebecca's, the stand across the street from Del's stand, and it was very weird. The lobster salad itself had much smaller pieces of lobster than either Kimball's or Del's, and it contained small pieces of red pepper in addition to the celery, plus tons of celery seed (I asked the stand person what it was, to confirm). It did have a toasted New England-style bun, but it wasn't as well prepared as Kimball's. Iceberg lettuce. Much smaller than Del's or Kimball's. Del's was better. I also tried a Del's soft frozen lemonade (which, apparently, is a Rhode Island institution) ("since 1948!"), and it was highly good, with chunks of stuff in it. Dean kept stealing it from me. (I let him.) We think they should add an illicit copy of a Del's frozen lemonade to the drinks stand at Stew's.

I couldn't hold my horses waiting for the library, so we picked up DH on the way home Saturday night and I finished reading it Monday night at around 2 AM (I guess that would actually be Tuesday morning). It was good. :-) Monday afternoon, I got a notice from the Russell that my hold was ready! Ha. I must've been top of the list! Oh well, that's okay.

Anyway, I don't know what else. I've been sort of out of it. I don't know if I'm a little bit sick, or what.
