I had a pint of jinx at dinner last night. It was really good, too, with a subtle lapsang-souchongy smokiness. But Dean claimed it kept making him spill and drop stuff.

Bob talked about slack key guitar on this week's Themetime!

I bought a new sweater today, and when I was counting my change at home later I noticed that the saleslady had given me a 1979 new penny. Every once in a while you'll get a Canadian coin as change, but a British one?? It's not even the same size as a normal penny! But I guess the color fooled even me, if I didn't notice until later. (Needless to say, it's no longer in my wallet.)

I love my new sweater. And when I showed it to Dean, he immediately observed that it's a mauvehound sweater. I can't say how much that pleased me. :-)

We went hounding this evening, at the trail in Cheshire. I didn't get to pet my pal the Maaaa!, though, because the sheep were in with the goats and were therefore unreachable. The peacocks looked really fluffy, like they're getting extra-thick winter feathers. It was chilly and dark on the ride back, but our lights and jackets are great. (Cat Statistics: Distance - 7.26 miles; Average - 10.5 mph; Max Speed - 14.1 mph; Time - 41'15.)

Oh also: I scoured the shelves at A Dong for matcha. No luck. AND, I even asked an Authority Figure-looking man about it. (I could tell just from his stance that he was in charge and knew things.) Nope. It really seems like A Dong should carry matcha! (Cheap matcha, no less.) What's wrong with them? They did have ONE instance of a box of some kind of matcha "latte" drink mix. I bought it. Maybe it will be grogurt-worthy.

[Edit: I want more episodes about Buck's fake spider that he keeps in his desk, and some eclair eating scenes! Is that too much to ask for?]

Moan. If I could obtain an endless supply of Sweet Matcha, I could eat grogurt-and-matcha every day for breakfast for a good long while. It's so good, I licked the bowl clean. (Using my finger in this case, that is. Not a direct tongue lickage.)

Yellow moon like a hunk of cheese in the sky. We flew low on the way, and saw lots (followed along on my Guy). Parlin was good. I haven't listened to enough Richard music for a while. Got my last peaches of the year this afternoon. And a big bag of Lyman's Asian pears. Ten or twelve of them. Because they're really good but I don't want to go back after the peaches are gone. I think I need an updated fav foods list. BTW, the Food Issue was sort of disappointing. The first one was the best and the others have never lived up. The new Tango visor cover I made looks really pretty, especially in the dark. I have to make the second one, but I'm too tired tonight. I keep thinking about matcha. I am obsessed with matcha. Why is matcha so hard to get??? Would I still be obsessed with it if it were easy?

I love having a newly bright lightbulb. It makes a huge difference. In everything.

I asked the tea lady at Whole Foods about matcha yesterday. She seemed surprised that they didn't have any, and looked on all the shelves and stands that I'd just finished scrutinizing before she'd believe that it was true. Then she looked in the back room and came up with one package of matcha, but it wasn't the normal kind, it was "sweet matcha," which is matcha powder with sugar mixed in! I bought it anyway. Verdict: it's not overly sweet, and still tastes pretty matcha-y (but not nearly as matcha-y as straight matcha), but, since I don't like sugar in my tea at all, it's not really my thing. (Dean thought it was good.)

HOWEVER, it's superb sprinkled on plain grogurt! Really, really superb. Even on 0%! I usually drizzle honey on my grogurt anyway (or eat it with Lyman's peaches!), so the amount of sweetness the sugar adds is just perfect. Clearly grogurt and sweet matcha were made for each other. (It's still not as good as the straight-up matcha kick from drinking pure matcha, though. Also, I think it's been discontinued, because I don't see it on Rishi's website! :-( )

Here's a photo of far-away Boston on the way to Nancy's Sunday. It was such a beautiful clear blue day.
