Big shad-ish looking fish, really huge--size of the whole truck--and a sign underneath that says, "MEAT WITHOUT FEET"! I was staring at it so much that I missed my turn. Best fishtruck ever!

It's warm (70-ish) and drizzly and all the trees' colors show fantastically well, popping with the grey sky as a backdrop. Lots of reds, reds, red and oranges. Just, tons of leaves. Beautiful.

My watergloves were in on Thursday, but I thought they were too big (I hope I'm right) so I made them send them back and order size small instead. The store guy tried to talk me into believing they were the right size, but I didn't fall for it. Underwater gloves should be tight, like a wetsuit! Gloves in general should be tight. (Even though I don't really think I have size small hands.)

Meanwhile, it turns out that I have a protruding disc in my neck that has "potential for impingement upon the exiting left C7 nerve root." I don't entirely understand the extent of what this means, but it does explain my tingly fingers and electrocuted arm. So, not too surprisingly, it's my messed up neck to blame, and definitely not my cnidarian-petting proclivities. :-)

Poor Dean, he's still groaning. I have to admit, that was pretty great, even though it doesn't hold a candle to the actual Hornung stories.

(Now Dean's saying I'm Raffles. Well, I won't argue. He is my hero, after all.)

Anyway. (Oh man, that sponge bag!!!) Was there something serious I meant to post about?

I showed Dean the silhouette on my Raffles book cover to illustrate what Raffles really looks like. Anthony Valentine is delightful, but Bunny describes Raffles thus: "I see his indolent, athletic figure; his pale, sharp, clean-shaven features; his curly black hair; his strong unscrupulous mouth. And again I feel the clear beam of his wonderful eye, cold and luminous as a star, shining into my brain--sifting the very secrets of my heart." Well. Yes.

I suppose they got it as right as they could, except for the hair and the paleness, and the unscrupulous mouth. TV-Raffles has a cat-who-ate-the-canary mouth. Or maybe that's just when he's remembering schooldays with Bunny.

(Dean: "You look exactly like him, are kind of crazy, and like to steal stuff." ???! Wow.)

Oh yes, the other topic I was going to post about is my new tonguehound sweater. It's a lot like my mauvehound, but it's a pinker shade that reminds me of a slice of tongue (cow's, I'm pretty sure).

I ordered a new pair of underwater gloves at Midtown Kawasaki in Rocky. They claim they'll be in by Thursday! They're a totally different brand, so I hope I like them. My ten-year-old ones have a hole in one finger, and, no, it was not caused by petting crowns-of-thorns. I don't think.

Dean: "Ahhh!! That was the most YOU show EVER!!!"
Laura: *laughs maniacally*

Yep, my Raffles DVDs came in the mail today!!! :-) :-) :-)

I had an eXcruciating headache all day. (It's gone finally.) If I hadn't, I might have enjoyed: 1) finding more Jinx! (bought two sixes, to stock up), B) finding Vosges' bacon chocolate bars (bought one, but haven't tried it yet), and 3) driving to Hartford without getting lost or even scared, thanks to my Guy. My Guy is THE BEST. The search for a new pair of snorkel/dive gloves is not going well, though. Apparently they are extremely seasonal. Sort of like Jinx.

I asked the Whole Foods chocolatier dude why they don't have matcha bars, and he claimed he'd try to get some. We'll see if it actually happens. He wrote it down on a scrap of paper that he probably lost one second after I walked away. Bacon bars but no matcha bars?? I think Whole Foods has its priorities wrong.

P.S. SIOIWTEBBA is transcendent.

Bob "kind of thinks of" the Beach Boys as "the Kennedy family, with surfboards"?? What the heck does that mean??
