We're back!!! It was COLD. Tango looks great.
Here are some photos (all taken by me, except the obvious one):
1) Side view portrait. 2) Tango with Dean and me. 3) Other side, in front of the Oxford Aviation building.
And a couple inside the hanger, before they wheeled him out into the sunlight:
4) Dean inspecting Tango (I used the flash on this one, and you can see all the dust particles in the air like snow, but I kind of like it...) 5) Nose view, with Dean inspecting the fairings. Nose view is so cute! My very favourite parts of Tango's new paint job are the nose and the fairings (which you can see better in some of the other views).
The colors are black and "flying beige," but it's more of a cream than a beige, really. They were chosen to match his interior, which we've always loved. I designed the scheme (with input from Dean, natch). A lot of what's different about it (different from standard paint schemes, that is) is that, with the exception of the swoop, it follows the lines of the plane, with color separations along the actual panels rather than at random spots that have nothing to do with the structure. (The swoop echoes a wave-ish swoop that's on the inside of the door.) Also, all the moving parts on the wings and tail (the flaps, aileron, rudder and trim tabs) are painted black, while the fixed pieces are cream. You can see a few of these details better in this photo, which is from sort of a weird angle, but shows the inside of the door and the black wing pieces. (They remind me of tipped feathers on a bird's wings.)
Also, for the record, I won a 20 minute neck massage on a bet we made while in the hanger, but I won't embarrass Dean by going into details (it was regarding a detail about Tango that I remembered correctly and he didn't!). He was so sure he was right, I should've upped the bet to an hour! (It started off as ten minutes and I doubled it.) I have not yet claimed my winnings, but they are forthcoming.

What the heck. I just looked at my blog notebook, which I thought had Hawaii notes that make perfect sense, and they make NO sense. For example, the complete notes for our boat dive with Jeff on Saturday are: "JJ". That's real helpful.
I got my hair cut today, and Michelle noticed that I have a tan! I was very impressed, because, believe me, it doesn't look like a tan at all. She was also totally amazed by how fast my hair grew while I was away, confirming that I am not delusional. I'm pretty sure it grew about three times faster than normal. My watch ran fast, too. (I hope it's back to normal now, or I will have to do something about it.) Land of extremes.
I'm going to try to work on my missing week of entries now, and I apologise in advance if they are sketchy. Maybe I can make it up with pictures. Fortunately, we fooled around a lot that week and didn't do that much worth writing about.
[Edit: Wait, I think I also saved some notes as drafts in Blogger... That's good!]

Picked up our backlogged mail this afternoon (all the trees were coated with ice; it was so beautiful!). Check it out: this came while we were gone. :-) I am wearing that exact sweater today, too!

I wasn't cold at all today! It was only 27°, but I dressed for it and felt perfect. Driving the Beag to Shaw's, it felt so smooth and zoomy and low. Felt good. Very rested and relaxed. White sky today, but not much snow yet. Connecticut grocery stores sure are big and shiny. I couldn't believe how small and shrivelled and green and pathetic the papayas looked, though. Yikes. I bet they're completely tasteless. Good thing I never buy papayas here.
P.S. The Beag had to jump start Lex!!! (After they'd both sat idle for a month.) How humiliating for poor Lex. Ha! :-)
