We're off in Tango to North Carolina, to visit the Gingers for Christmas! Not sure if I'll be able to post there, so auf wiedersehen for now, and Merry Christmas. Here's a photo of the bottom of the tree last night.

I save all my other gifts for Christmas day, but not Susie's. Maybe it's because I think she opens hers before Christmas, too. (Not certain that's true, but I think it is.) And they're so tiny and pretty and inviting, in a bag that's asking to be dug into, sure to make you smile when you're going to bed at 4 AM weary and aching all over. I haven't opened them all yet, but I unwrapped the little green box tied in red satin ribbon this morning, and when I drew out the little bird inside, I involuntarily whispered, "Oh, it's so cute." It's the earmuffs. And the look in her eye. Then I went downstairs and turned on the Christmas tree for the day, and chose a spot to hang her.
Susie and I tried to meet at the Sugar Cube Cafe yesterday, but it was inexplicably closed (too bad, because I peered in the windows, and it looks really cool!) so we drove to SBUX instead, and that was nice too, talking in the blue velvet chairs that Susie snagged while I stood in line for our drinks and Alex's muffin. It was great to see them! We'll definitely have to try the Sugar Cube again, though.
My boots and our new Palmas (Treos) came on Tuesday. And Dean and I have been neck-and-neck all week in the Christmas Card Competition. I fully expect to fall behind at any moment.
[Edit: The photo above is another one of my new heirloom ornaments. I love how it looks rather planetary in the picture. Is it an M class planet? Perhaps not.]

Conversation at the board meeting tonight, as reported to me afterwards by Dean:
Harry: You tell Laura Volkswagens aren't supposed to do over 55. Dean: Huh? Harry: I was behind her the other day on Rt. 9 and she just disappeared--oh my God--she was driving, like, 100 mph!! Dean: *shrugs* It is a turbo. Mike: Really?! Harry: That little girl has a big lead foot. Dean: *nods in agreement*
Laugh LAUGH. What the heck! I don't drive that fast. Honestly!
I officially have ALL my Christmas shopping done, thanks to the snowstorm this weekend, which apparently made everyone else scared of the mall, so it was nearly empty on Saturday night, even though the storm wasn't supposed to arrive until midnight. I also am almost done with my cards (they are kind of slacky this year), but I am still not finished decorating my tree, and my room is covered in wrapping paper. Love LOVE wrapping.
I have to remember to take my eelskin coin holder out to my car.
My new Zi (it will no longer be an actual Zi) is supposed to arrive tomorrow, and I am excited!! (From When-are-they-ever-going-to-release it??? to It's Here!! in two days. That's insane!) Since they're being released so close to Christmas, we are going to give them to each other as presents, though, so I can't start actually using it yet. My other Christmas presents are new gloves that fit me perfectly and NEW BOOTS (if they arrive in time, which they should) but that's a surprise too, so I don't know about it, of course. Dean is getting lots of presents, but they are all a BIG SECRET (well, one or two of them are, anyway) so I can't reveal them here.
I'm still winning our Christmas Card Competition, but only by one card.
