Wow. That was really hard, but I managed to fit all my new books on and clear a tiny bit of room for future books. I had to kick out a lot of stuff, including my entire Noel Streatfeild collection, which will now be consigned to a box in the basement.
Rearranging bookshelves is pretty exhausting.
[Edit, 2:19 AM: Fish of the New England Coast: Paranoid Haddock. I couldn't get a handle on the Bonito.]

Themetime Mail was a good Themetime episode! (Yeah, I know it was on back in February or something, but I got really far behind when we were in Hawaii.) I haven't listened to Themetime in ages...
We had Suder corn on the cob tonight and it was totally amazing. Dean and I both agree it gets better as the season goes on. Not sure why, but it really does. Sweeter and more tender.
I wonder if the David family is going to have a traditional Whaples at the Lake corn on the cob and lobster feast when they come?? I should offer to provide the ingredients, if they want to! They are coming Saturday night and I am Very Excited.

Not a picture of my Star Trek collection, but my final Womack books came today, so now I have them all! (The copy of Raffles: the Amateur Cracksman is unrelated.) Grove Press should feel shame about how unmatched the Dryco series is, though. It's appalling! Terraplane is too short, Heathern is also fractionally shorter, but not as short as Terraplane, Random Acts is tons taller and deeper than the others, and both Random Acts and Going Going Gone are glossy, while all the others are matte! What the heck. If I were Jack Womack, I would be really, really annoyed. But I suppose he's probably just glad they're all in print. Dean calls them all my "horrible books." As in, "Are you reading your new Horrible Book?" No, I am not reading my new horrible book yet, but I will be soon. The next one is Elvissey, which was also my first-ever. Elvissey is the best-looking one. It has a great cover.

Caught in my Spam Butcher: "The Secret to Grilling Octopus." Actually it was "The Secret to Grilling Chicken Outdoors," but I misread it.
I got a fantastic book today, for 27¢: Secret Under the Sea. It was written in 1960 and takes place in 2013, and when I flipped through it and saw this illustration, I knew I had to have it. (Make sure you view full-sized!) I want to live there!! Great computer room on Level Three, too.
I forgot to mention last week that I went to Lyman's and bought mass quantities of peaches. They were already all eaten today, so I went back and got more. Lyman's peaches + grogurt = match made in heaven. It's sort of annoying to drive to Lyman's, because it's out in the middle of nowhere, but it's worth it for the peaches and it's fun to drive to Middletown the back way afterward. That's where I got my new book, at that same thrift store where I bought my typewriter a few years ago. (Also I like driving by that strange roadside Elvis stand/truck, on the way.)
Speaking of books, I started booting things off my bookshelf, but then I got curious about what's in my already-booted book boxes in the basement, so I dug them out and found Key to the Treasure, all my Sherlock Holmes books, and my complete Star Trek paperback collection! I was crying to Dean about how tragic it is that I don't have room on my bookshelves for my great Star Trek collection (whilst trying to make him admire it) and he said I should take a picture of it, so I can just look at the picture whenever I miss it. Grrr. (I guess that's kind of a good idea, actually.)
We went to Parlin tonight, and on the way home in the car, "Do It Again" played on the radio. I kept singing along in a whiny/nasally Mike Love voice during the "let's get together and do it again" parts. I couldn't help it; I love Mike Love's whiny/nasally voice!
Suder wasn't at the Suder Store today, and they're all out of blueberries for the year, too! Suder blueberries were officially the Best Blueberries Ever. Note to Future Self: BUY LOTS OF THEM!! Additional Note to Future Self, stuck in a season that's not summer: Summer WILL come, and it's even better than you can remember!!

AO, here are a few more photos from Block:
1) Approaching Block Island, about 5 miles out.
2) Right to left / foreground to far: Ballard's Beach / Old Harbor / Crescent Beach / Mansion Beach / Pots & Kettles, out my side window on base turning to final.
It rained superhard again today, practically all afternoon. The Nose Guy announced a Flash Flood Warning on the radio this time (but not for this part of the state). I (surprisingly) did not flood my huaraches (which just finished drying out from Friday) but I did get the inside of my car very wet every time I got in and out, and had to use my handy red microfiber cloth to dry it off. Stopped at Suder's, and it was so loud standing in the open air under the tin roof, Suder and I almost had to shout to communicate with each other. It was quite cool. He asked me what my name is this time, and told me his. I already knew his name but I didn't say so since I don't want him to think I'm obsessed with him or anything like that... :-)
I got a box for the books I'm going to have to kick off my bookshelves to make room for my new Womack collection (the last two members of which are In The Mail). Which books should I kick off??

Incredibly beautiful clear bluesky day on Saturday, after all the lightning and hard rain. We could see Block Island from more than twenty miles out, floating in the middle of the blue blue sea. Hounded to Pots to find it transformed: rocks gone, hidden under smooth thick sand; bunches of codium fragile half-buried like trees at the Desert of Maine; seagulls en masse, unafraid, feasting; and, all along my beach walk, thousands of tiny glistening jellies washed up, scattered like strings of jewels. They were amazing. I just kept walking and walking and taking pictures and pictures and pictures.
Cat Report: Total distance - 10.22 miles; Average speed - 9.2 mph; Max speed - 28.5 mph; Total time - 1:06'08.
I have more photos but this is enough for now.
