The crow dinner was pretty good! On the way home, we stopped at Lowe's and I accidentally asked the same Lowe's guy twice about where to find trash bags. Just one more example of my complete lack of cognizance in that area. I can't recognise a person I just talked to two minutes ago. In my defense, it was in a totally different part of the store! But Dean was groaning. Then when we checked out, we had the same cashier I had on Tuesday that talked to me about the election. As we were waiting in line, I was whispering to Dean that I thought it might be the same person, but I wasn't positive. I identified her more by her hair style than her face or anything else. She recognised me immediately, and was super friendly and chatty again. We're such pals! Heehee. Apparently I gave her the impression I voted for Obama, so I didn't correct her and tell her I actually wrote in Bob Barr. :-)

P.S. It's so warm! It's like... practically 60°. Now! In the middle of the night! In November! Misty-moisty and notcold.

P.P.S. We have our Eat Crow dinner with Dean's Gs tomorrow. I'm hoping the crow will be baked in a pie, like four and twenty blackbirds. Or maybe I can eat Humble Pie instead!!! That would be especially great if it included kidneys! But Dean can't eat either one since it wouldn't be vegetarian.

Inside clouds like a snuggly grey fuzzy cashmere blanket. Dean keeps complaining that he doesn't understand how I can eat a Chipotle so neatly. I like sparkling grapefruit Izze! It's cool listening to all the jets in New York airspace. Towel Air (really Talon Air, but it sounds like "Towel" when the NY controller says it...), JetBlue, Southwest, Free the Man (Freedom Air), Delta, Con Air (!) (not sure what that really was...), UPS Heavy... and Cherokee 137AT.

[later] The Bradley controllers have the nicest voices. Aaaaagh, I LOVE the Calm Guy. I wish we could listen to him all the time.

It looks like Hurricane Paloma is headed for Grand right now, so hopefully everything will be okay...

Size of a kiwi! That's so cute and small.

Yesterday I got to go to KidCity with Susie and Alex. The coolest part was the fake fish elevator! (They didn't look like shad, though.) I also really liked going on the see-saw with Alex. I am a big fan of see-saws. Also teeter-totters. I think Alex likes me, because he wanted to hold my hand on the elevator. (Not the fish elevator, the real one.) We also went to Javapalooza, which I had never been to before even though it's on Main Street in Middletown and I have walked by it many times. I got my cappuccino in a for-here cup and the foam was eXcellent! Best foam I've had in recent memory. It was a great way to spend the day-after-election-day, and nice and distracting since I've been rather insomniacal lately. Also, yesterday and today have been so non-cold, I haven't even needed to wear my arm warmers! Overcast/rainy-ish, but nice. Oh yeah, and I want a sea cave with fiber optic walls to write on! Or whatever the heck that was. That was supercool.

Attempted to hang around in Dean's room watching the election returns but I had to run away after only an hour. All that jabbering on CNN gave me a giant headache. Well, I tried!

Make that 65°. There was no line at all! Today was overcast, with a nice agreeable soft light. I kept having extra-pleasant interactions with people in stores; it was weird, I felt as if I was speaking in an especially cordial tone and so were they. Today just felt very unrushed, mellow, sincere, polite. What's the opposite of misanthropic? That.

I wore my "I Voted Today" sticker. :) The cashier at Lowe's commented about it, saying she needed to go vote after work, adding, "I bet you can guess who I'm voting for by looking at me." I was like, huh? for a second, then realized she was black. Then she said she loved my hair and I thanked her, adding that I actually get a lot of compliments on it from black guys. "Yeah, because it's kind of like a 'fro. I love curly hair." "Me too... black, white, it doesn't matter." As I was leaving she said, "I hope you voted for the right guy," and I smiled warmly and answered, "I hope so too!" I hope everyone hopes they voted for the right guy!

On my way to vote. It's nice out today! 63°.

first frame ever!Wow, our Survival Kit and my aquaSketch Minno blank replacement vellums arrived today! Dean installed a brand new clean one for me, just waiting to be filled with dives! Since we took the old one out, I got to scan the first frame (drawing by Sara at BID, instructions by Dean) for posterity.

Our "helicopter" life vest pouches also arrived last week, and I got my new black scuba Crocs today, since my other pair lives in our Na Hale o Storage in Kona. And I got a new black one-piece bathing suit at the Gap for only $13 (out of season, the only one left) that actually fits me! I think it will be good for the dive boat in Grand.

It was pitch DARK when I came out of the grocery store today. Aaak. But, I did wake up early!

I listened to "Jupiter No. Ree" at NEAC today, and it was magnificent. Current "Cold Cold Ground" playcount = 36. ("I have been trying to... cut down.") My new SpamButcher replacement gadget has a "the cat'll sleep in the mailbox and we'll never go to town," eyeball cat in its mailbox just like in "Cold Cold Ground." (For about the first 20 times I listened to CCG, I thought it was "the cattle sleep in the mailbox," which I assumed was an intentionally absurd image.)

[Edit, 12 AM: Speaking of which, today's spam count: 1,059 pieces of spam (96% of all our mail) were blocked by Dean's cool new spam filter on our new server! Yikes.]

833 pieces of spam = one day!

I listened to Spring Cleaningtime Radio Hour while we washed and put away the hoses and Erie Canal elements (Toad Box, etc.) since there's no Fall Winterization episode of Themetime. All done, and my fingers didn't (quite) snap off! They're coooooold though. Did you know that Mud Gloves are not waterproof? I wore 1) t-shirt, 2) long-sleeved cashmere sweater, 3) arm warmers, 4) cashmere zippy cardigan, 5) big cranberry round-zipperpull partially-leather '70s cardigan stolen from my dad, 6) red fleece gloves, AND 7) rubbery Mud Gloves, but I was still cold anyway. It's 5:00 and it's DARK. Happy daylight losings time!
