Great new expression (said by Wilkes when he stopped by our hangar!): "It was so dark, it was like taking off inside a cow."

My Harry's lobster roll was on par with Kimball & Maine Diner! (!!) It was just extra good. The roll part was superbly prepared, all golden brown and crispy.

It was a really nice temperature for hounding (HOT at home), and also for Pots-ing, even though it was high tide so all the pots and kettles were underwater. I Got Wet to cool off, even though I didn't have my bathing suit. It was fun! My boardshorts were all dry by the time we left.

Dean got the Falafel Works at Froozies and loved it! He said he wants to get it again next time. (Even though it was extremely messy!) "It was the best falafel yet." I hate falafel.

We went to Mitchell's On the River for dinner! It was happenin'. I had to stand in line with a crazy guy (NOT Dean) for a billion years. He would have fit in at the South Kona Green Market (lemon-stomper). He had crab cakes back on the boat (and a glass of booze in his hand). Later we saw him and his pal returning to their boat in a motorized dinghy (why they didn't dock the real boat at Rocky, we have no idea). The river wasn't flooded anymore (people were sitting in the formerly underwater benches) and the ferry was running. Dean made me get a lobster roll and a crab roll ("new!") for a competition. I got a hot lobster and a cold crab. They were very different (both good), even though Dean thought two clawy guys would be similar. Mitchell's ice cream was inferior.

I'm buying a woodcut print by Lisa Studier! I have been in love with them for about two years, and I finally got up the nerve to write to her. I didn't even know if they were actually for sale, or what. The one I'm getting is my very favorite, the crown-of-thorns. (!!!!!) It's an edition of only five, and mine is the very last one left. (!) Wowow. I'm going to have it framed and hang it at the foot of my chaise.

That was so good. I was in tears for practically the whole movie!

I went to a matinee showing of Julie & Julia! I thought there'd be about one person in the audience (me), but there are a ton of people here! (More than there usually are at this theatre at night.)

Wow! My computer's power supply croaked while it was shut down during the electrical outage, and it wouldn't turn back on, but Dean ran out to Best Buy and snagged a new one two seconds before it closed, and installed it. It's all fixed! Dean is shocked because he says it's very rare for a power supply to fail. My poor computer has had so many operations!

Whirwhirwhir. I did my first mod using my new sewing machine! It sews so smoothly.

Good, because it was starting to get hot.

Now they're sitting on the ground.

There must be something screwy going on (well, obviously) because the electrician dudes are just standing around under a tree (for the shade) near the electric thingy in our front yard. (And have been forever.)

We were supposed to have the electricity out for a couple of hours this morning (electric stuff being worked on), and it's STILL off. I just made coffee with my Aeropress. I heated up the water on the stove (usually I use the microwave) and used a Bic lighter to spark the gas. It's kind of nice how quiet it is (no computer noise, no fans), but otherwise aaaaaaaagh. Electricity is my friend. I feel really lucky there's still water and gas though.

Heheh. Guess what I'm making again? Yeah. Clafoutis. About 10 minutes left in the oven, I think.

I used a different dish this time, and it's all puffy! Aaaaaak, so pretty. That's almost the last of the Buell blueberries.

[Edit: Here's the finished clafoutis. Yum. Dean doesn't share my enthusiasm for clafoutis. He thinks it's "an enigma." But that's why I like it!]

Poor bats! :-( I hope my contribution helps.

It's SO summery today! The forecast said we were going to get mean thunderstorms, but we never did. The sky is such a creamy shade of blue, and it's hot! Perfectly hot. Lovely lovely lovely. I drove to Evergreen Walk (the former Starbucks there is just vacant), hoping I wouldn't get rained on, and I didn't. Bought a really weird but beautiful drapey wrap sweater thing at Anthropologie. Usually their clothes don't fit me right (however much I want them too), but this does! It has super-tight sleeves, mmmmmm. And the rest looks like a bat. Very lightweight but snuggly and looks nice with a skirt/dress. I got black since it looks more formal, even though I don't usually wear black (and they had burnt orange), because I want to wear it to nice restaurants.

I couldn't resist buying more blueberries at Suder's, even though I already have Buell's, wild Maine (from Whole Foods), and Draghi. Maybe I need to make another clafoutis to use up the Buell's. :-) Current Suder blueberry count: 10. (I haven't counted the millions of blueberries I've bought elsewhere.)

One of the things I love most about hanging out with the David family is how relaxed and natural I feel.

Yes, Wacker. I rewatched The Blues Brothers again (with Dean this time). Best movie ever. My favorite part = practically ever scene. Dean kept groaning nonstop. Hahahahah.

No more wish sandwich sign at the Ber C&D! :-(

It's replaced with "SOFT SERVE ICE CREAM 99¢." I still have a picture of the wish sandwich sign on my phone, though.

We installed my new VW emblems to replace the old worn-out ones and they look nice and SHINY!!! It wasn't very hard. The dealership guys are huge slackers for squirming out.

I'm obsessing over the Blues Brothers to get ready for Chicago.
