Fresh warm donut!
While I ate it, I watched the Milk Carton show. "Kids love shopping at Stew Leonard's, the world's largest dairy store." Battle Hymn of the Republic tune. (I love that tune!)
Chiquita Banana = people dancing around while choosing their apples.
Loaves of Bread chiming "Stew-Stew!" Clock. Sweet voice.
Stew Jr. on TV at the ranch telling about his Black Angus beef.
It's crazy-crowded, like a carnival.
Stew Leonard's bag hoe-down.
Miss Diva Cheese.

check out the peach slicesClafoutis #6! The idea came to me while we were watching a show about weird evolution of isolated species. (I liked the almost-lizard reptile.) New flavor: blueberry-peach! I still used the normal 1/2 pint of blueberries (Draghi), plus one small peach (also Draghi!). It's delicious. Even Dean thinks so (I mostly fed him the peach sections, so there's no way he couldn't).

This time I put in less sugar since peaches are already really sweet, and it didn't seem to effect the consistency of the clafoutis part. Also, I used a mixture of vanilla sugar (homemade, with lots of vanilla bean flakes) and Greed (gridery sugar with dried citrus peels in it) instead of normal sugar since I thought it would go with the peaches. It did. Is it even possible to make a bad clafoutis? Here's the in-the-act-of-baking picture, aka the part where you get to see the inside of my oven.

[Edit: This one was worse the next day cold, unlike the others, which were better cold. It's because hot baked peaches taste like peach cobbler, but cold baked peaches taste like canned peaches. :-/]

Waitress at ION, to Dean when he joined me after parking: "Are you looking for that cute lady over there?"
Dean: "Yep."

I like what it says on my water glass: "Off-centered ales for off-centered people." Although, it really should say off-center, not off-centered. I'd like to think I'm off-center but still pretty centered.

Iced Kona Mountain Coffee made with my Aeropress = YUM. And it cools down really fast, too, since you only use a tiny amount of hot water to make the initial brew! I just brewed it normally, then added ice and cold water to fill up the mug (usually you top it off with hot), put it in the freezer for about ten minutes, and it was ready. Nice.

My crown-of-thorns print is coming today, and I keep checking the online UPS tracking (Status: In Transit), even though if it arrived I'd hear the doorbell ring. Heh. I can't wait!

It's so nice out today. About 75°, sunny, just perfect. I don't know for sure, but I think maybe June's over-eagerness for autumn is rubbing off on me a little. I'm not really dreading it this year (I say this now; we'll see when it really gets here), as long as it's gradual.

out of the oven, with Greed grindered on topYogurt Review: new Dannon Caramel. Verdict: YES. Brilliant invention!

I don't like Dannon's fruit-on-the-bottom varieties, but I am a longtime (probably around 20 years) fan of their smooth coffee and lemon flavors. Great texture, not very sweet, adult flavors, all around nice stuff. In fact, classic Dannon coffee yogurt is still one of my fav yogurts ever, but I only eat it occasionally, since, being made with real coffee, it has caffeine. I can't handle any additional caffeine, and since I usually drink a cup of coffee sometime during the day, a cup of coffee yogurt on top of that would push me over the edge into hummingbird mode.

Anyway, on the tops of the last few packages of coffee yogurt I've bought recently (note: still no True Yogurt at Whole Foods, so I've had to resort) there's been an exciting ad for a New! flavor: caramel!! I love caramel, so this was a huge tease since no store actually seemed to carry this flavor. Finally I procured ONE package (can't remember if it was at Waldbaum's or Big W); then this week at Shaw's, I snagged a bunch more. It is great! I was a little worried it would be too sweet, but it's not. Instant classic, to join the ranks of coffee and lemon. I really really hope they keep it around.

P.S. Just made another clafoutis... blackberry this time. I got the blackberries at Suder's, and they're really sour, so of course the obvious solution is a clafoutis! [Edit: They were still pretty sour, but it was gooood, especially cold the next day!]

P.P.S. I noticed there's a new restaurant in the Skeevy Plaza (former location of Blue Lobster before they moved to their new non-skeevy location down the road). Skeevy Cheesesteaks, or something like that. The last place (Skeevy Dogs?) sure didn't last very long. The skeevy adult DVD place they share the plaza with is still there, of course. [Correction: it's actually Skeevy Cheeze Steaks! With a "z"! Ha! How skeevy is that??]

Back from Chicago, and I picked up our backlogged mail. June and Sam's wedding invitation and response card are gorgeous. V. v. cool.
