My new sweater came!!! XS is definitely not too small. (I only second-thoughted it because the reviews on the website said this particular sweater was cut really small and that they had to buy a size larger than normal. Nope. Is it even possible for a top to be too small for me? Groan.) It's weird and cool! I will try to take a picture. I think it needs one more button, though. (It only has one.) Perhaps I can add one, since it's reeeeeeally easy to make buttonholes with my new sewing machine!

That was fun. I walked to the post office. I like the parts of autumn that are summery.
this reminds me of this (click)

Oh yes, here are the pictures from Safety Tape-ing in the sun. I really like them. The first one I took is a candid shot; I had my left arm rested against the deck railing while holding the camera, and just randomly snapped a photo while absorbed in listening, not looking at the camera or changing my expression at all. It kind of reminds me of a Bob photo for some reason. In the other two, I tried to get my skirt in the picture to show its real colors. I like how I look really relaxed in this one. You can get the idea about the skirt pretty well, even though there are weird deck shadows going on. In the last one, I was out on the lawn. Mmmm. I love the natural light colors in these. They're so true.

Gosh, I just love the basement tapes so much. I still don't know if this version's actually improved or not (that fantastic separation isn't in every track, alas), but I'm glad I downloaded it because it made me listen to this stuff again, and, aaaagh, it's so wonderful.

I keep dilemmaing about what exercisey thing to do today. I feel like going for a bike ride outside, but my bike's tires aren't blown up, so I can't do that. I want to go to NEAC, but my leg and arm muscles are still really hurting from Wednesday (wow!), so maybe not. I did some stretchy stuff instead. But maybe I'll also go for a walk outside, listening to the basement tapes. That's a very autumn thing to do. First I decided to have a cup of Kona Mountain made in my Aeropress, sitting in the sun on the back step and eating part of a Berkshire Bark bar, while listening to the basement tapes. And it was so fantastic. Dapply sun. New skirt. Bare feet in the grass. Perfect temperature. Couldn't hear my ears tingling. I took some pictures.

I'm listening to the new "Safety Tape" basement tapes boot for the first time. I don't know if it sounds better or not (I haven't played these songs in a while, and there are so many versions!), but it sure sounds good. Especially Richard. The stereo separation with Bob on one channel and Richard on the other is nice.

I have this weird tingly ringing in my left ear. It's purple (violet) sounding, and fluctuates with the beat of my blood. Hm, actually it's in both ears, but more noticeable in the left one. [Edit: Now it's more noticeable in the right. It keeps changing.] It's the same as the sound when everything's all mauvy flashy-lights and tongue-numb, but I don't feel dizzy at all. Weird. I wonder if it has anything to do with my massage and nerves getting manipulated and such. Ooh wow, I just noticed the tips of my little finger and ring finger on my left hand are slightly tingly too. I bet it does have to do with the massage. It was a very intense massage, and dramatically effective, too. I just wanted to sit still afterward. I even sat in my car listening to music after I'd already reached my destination because I didn't want to get out and walk around yet. Then I got a for-here cup (red!) at the Borders cafe and curled up in a soft chair and slowly enjoyed my very good dry cappuccino, almost like the old days at Rocky. (Usually I wander around the store while drinking a Borders cap.) I was so stiff and achy before, and afterwards, so not.

Oh, here's my new homemade skirt: front view and side view. I took the pictures in a store mirror, and I think a salesgirl noticed, even though I believed no one was around at the time. She said, "I love your color palette. So pretty." Heh. You actually can't see the colors at all in these pictures, because my Treo's camera is really fadey about colors. It's black with magenta, mauvey pink, and peach (like the actual fruit) shades. Abstract chrysanthemumesque flowers and leaves and stuff.

The skirt was super-easy to make. I used the pattern I invented (which isn't an actual pattern; I just traced the first instance of it in order to make the new one... and the first instance is loosely based on my scuba skirt, but with mods), and sewing it was a total pleasure using my new machine. So smooth and whirry. NO problem with the knit fabric at all. This is my official favorite skirt pattern. I have worn my original one nonstop. It's going to be too cold soon to wear the new one, but I had to get the fabric because it's very me. I'll wear it when we go to a tropical land, and/or next summer.

Did I mention that I accidentally ironed my knee? (That was before I made my new ironing board cover, and had nothing to do with the skirt, either.) It's vastly improved now, but the welt turned into a gash from too much kneeling on the floor the next day. It hurt! I had to put that clear liquid bandage stuff that smells like nail polish on it. I love the smell of that stuff. Speaking of weals and wales, did you know that the thickest-ribbed kind of corduroy is called elephant cord?

Tingle tingle tingle. It's a science fiction sound. ST:TOS, I think. Or even bordering on Rover.

Wow, my NEAC massage was really good and therapeutic! And HARD! (Yay!) She couldn't believe how tense and full of knots I was. "You should do this more often, honey."

These past two days have been so nice. It was cooler and overcast today, but still nice. 70°; warmer than I expected. Nice air on my skin. Achy and relaxed. Deep blue Hyacinth, just sitting very still and feeling everything. Driving, lost in my iPod music, passing the exit and taking the next one. Sweater I'm in love with. They didn't have size XS in the store so they're going to send it to my house. I hope it fits! Small fit pretty well but XS usually fits better, so we'll see. I'm fonding about autumn just a little because of interesting sweaters, and long leg-brushy skirts. I NEACed hard weights and I'm all nicely achy again. Finished sewing my new skirt and I love it. Not sure if I'll get the op to wear it before it gets too cool, but I love it. My arms are heavy. I'm going to get a cheap massage at NEAC tomorrow! Nooner-thirty. Only half an hour, but if I feel like I did today I will be eXtra appreciating it. Neem skin salve is good and I think it's curing my watch irritation. I went to a new SBUX today (I can't remember the last time I went to SBUX) since I went past the exit and ended up somewhere weird. I think it was South Windsor. The exit before Rein's. It was good because I was soooo relaxed and I got caramel drizzle on top so they couldn't ruin it. But it was pretty good anyway. I'm baking a clafoutis right now, for breakfast tomorrow. Inferior Rose's blueberries, cinnamon-and-sug, scant sugar in the batter, grogurt. Almost the last of the blues. The Ashford peaches from Suder's are so excellent with grogurt. Also, Jan is the man. That is all.

Aww. I sent an e-mail to True Yogurt last night, and this morning there was a message in my inbox from the True team. It begins, "Wow, Laura, this is just about the sweetest little note we've ever received. Thank you!" :-)

!!! I found out what's happened to the True Yogurt! The plant shut down and they haven't been able to find a new one yet!

I am totally enamoured of my iPod right now. Normally, I don't actually play that much music on it; I listen to podcasts a lot more often. (I turn on music in the car.) But last night and today I have been totally in love with the music. All different stuff, in shuffle mode, even. I even plugged it into the cassette player-thingy in my car and listened more after I left NEAC. It sounded wonderful.

Such such such a gorgeous day. Sunny, perfect temperature, my hair long and shiny-red in the sun. It's right at that stage where it's treading the fine line between too long and perfect, the way a piece of fruit is at its most luscious right before it goes bad. Speaking of fruit, I got some Ashford peaches at Suder's. I asked Suder how much longer they were going to stay open, and he said 3 more weeks, maybe. I told him I'm always sad when they close for the season. No more blueberries, not at Suder's and not at Draghi. Not even for ready money. I did get some Rose's (yes) at Whole Foods. Sign: "Last of the Season! Get them while they last!" Hmm. They're Rose's, but at least they're So. Glastonbury blueberries. I bought two packages.

I also tried a new kind of cheese, from the scrap bin, where they have little pieces packaged up cheap for you to try. I am CRAZY about it!!!! It's called Kunik, and it's a goat and cow chese with a white rindy edge kind of like on brie, but it's not soft in the middle. It's SO good. But I only got a tiny little piece.

AND, I bought some Halloumi to try. (!!)

I think Whole Foods has completely abandoned True Yogurt, despite their lies to the contrary. I haven't seen it since July, and there isn't even a spot for it on the shelf anymore! TRAGEDY.

I decided Dannon's new caramel yogurt is slightly too sweet, but it's still pretty good. It's very good mixed with coffee yogurt, OR, even better, mixed with coffee yogurt AND grogurt! Not sweet, proper amount of tart, gets a caramel + salt kind of thing going on, and is a fantastic thick creamy texture. But I miss True Yogurt so much it hurts.

I keep noticing more and more orange leaves. They're okay for now, since it's still warm.
