I need a Luden. :-(

Oooh, my MoMA membership stuff came in today's mail! Exciting! I have a membership card and everything. I hope I actually get a chance to use it. Mostly I donated to them because it's a cause I'm interested in, but the side benefits are pretty nice, too. :)

I want John Casey as my warrior. He'd count, wouldn't he? Speaking of which, I'm a little nervous about the Chuck season premier tomorrow. Two new episodes on Sunday and another one on Monday is too much! I'm going to overdose. Why are they using up so many episodes at once like this? I'm also scared because the finale of season two was probably my least favorite episode (not including the 3D one!) of the season. Am I going to love Chuck as much with his new powers?? Scaaaaaaaared. People who have seen the new episodes (press dudes got the first five in a package) say they're really really good, but what if they like different things about Chuck than I do? Tenterhooks.

Since I was having trouble deciding on my team, Dean picked it out (he says he "just illuminated it for me"): robot = The Terminator, scientist = Doc Brown, warrior = Worf, and alien = Stitch.

Hmmm. I would have liked to have chosen for myself, but I have to admit those are pretty good picks. Still, I really need to think about this.

I was telling Dean about this fantasy Sci-fi character team face-off that the Galactic Watercooler (my fav podcast) gang is doing. (It's sort of like Fantasy Football, but they hate football, so they're doing this instead.) On the podcast I listened to this week, they each "drafted" their teams, and in the next few weeks, the teams will be competing to solve various made-up scenarios. Each team has to have a robot, a scientist, a warrior, and an alien.

Dean: "I pick Tango as my warrior."
Laura: "What?! Tango? Tango's not a war- uuuuuuuuuhh!!! That's a good one!"

Dean decided that his team would consist of Wall-E, Jumba, Tango, and Quark.

My radio station has a THING for "Positively Fourth Street"! :-) And every time they play it, it improves my mood onehundredfold! (If my mood was already really good, that's pretty extreme.)

Oh, wow. Beautiful. My new jellyfish t-shirt from Etsy came in today's mail! (But does it get to compete in the coolest sea creature item I got for Christmas contest? Maybe not, as I bought it for myself after Christmas since no one else got it for me.) [Edit: This is a terrible picture, but it was the best I could do for now!]

I'm getting used to the feel of the Lame Beagle, but not to the sound of its voice. Its trunk lock does respond better than my real Beag's, so that's good.

I went back to Eddie Bauer today and got something with the store credit that I had from returning a Christmas shirt that was too big on Dean. They gave me $58 in store credit for it, even though there's no way my Gs would have paid that much! They are expert bargain hunters and probably bought it at an outlet store. So I got a Fair Isle Shawl Collar Cardigan that was originally $109 but marked down after Christmas, and it only cost me $5 out of pocket. Hahahah. It's a really nice sweater. Lucky for me, they had one extra-small left, since it was really the only item in the entire store that I liked and that would actually fit me.

Exiting Shaw's parking lot in Glastonbury:
Me - Text: I just saw a plane that looks like Tango flying by!
Dean - Text: Maybe it is!! Maybe they're testing the enhanced autopilot!?!
Me - Text: Sure looked like it! In pattern @ Brainard!
Dean - Text: Wow!
Me - Text: :-)

Later, at home:
Dean - Text: Exxel Avionics just called me with a status update on Tango! That must be him that you saw!
Me - Text: Wow!!! :-)

What the heck! The VW dealership needs to order new panels for the Beag so they won't be done until Monday! Why, exactly, did they not do that ahead of time?? They're so incompetent. Good thing Dean made me get the Lame Beagle loaner!

The L.B. has such an inferior voice. Its horn is much harsher sounding than my real Beag's. Poor L.B.

Today the Arm Guy said, "You're taking this machine to new heights" in reference to the traction contraption closing in on my "incredibly skinny neck," but I'm pretty sure he was joking.

[Reminder to self for future post:] What's the coolest sea creature item I got for Christmas? Items include: crinoid fossil bracelet, coral fossil cuff, homemade bulgy-eyeballed flatfish slab, purple crocheted jelly ornament, Fancy Fish Chocolates (only the box remains), The Famous Seashore Life playing cards, a Smack of Jellyfish, Sense and Sensibility and Sea Monsters, and Sir Jellyfish t-shirt. That's a lot of items. Will try to narrow down, and also post photos of narrow-downage.

My arm hurts again. I thought it was all better and going to the Arm Guy was useless, but apparently not. What the heck did I do to aggravate it? I did do lots of vacuuming today, but not using my left arm. I think I'd like to trade in my left arm for an octopus arm. I wonder if the transplant would be compatible?

Oh yes, and Wendy wants to know what I'm going to do with my knitting (currently 14½", btw). Her ideas include arm warmers and leg warmers. Mine include a sleeping bag for a sea cucumber. I also think I could make really cool arm warmers for an octopus: four pairs of four different colors. (Eight different colors would be a bit much, unless it was a gay octopus, and then I could do all the colors of the rainbow + white.)

Groan! Good thing we got the Lame Beagle. The guy who is in charge of overseeing my Beagle's fix is out sick today so they didn't do anything yet! Dean is so smart insisting on a loaner.

Wow, I really like my Smudge-of-the-Month calendar. (A lot more than I thought I would.)

I think I need a new drawer for all my tights.

My 2010 Rothko calendar finally came!
Dean: "Ooh, all sorts of smudges."

Went to the Arm Guy this morning (physical therapist for bulgy neck disc) and when he was waiting for the traction machine to close around me, he apologised that it was taking so long by explaining, "You have an incredibly skinny neck." Hahahah! I do not! The starter setting is probably just made for Joe Giant Neck dude's head to fit in. Also, when he was asking me about things I do that might trigger my neck and I told him I don't have a job, he asked me why not, and I said, "My husband makes enough money, and I'm kinda lazy, so..." and he cracked up. Heh. I'll have to use that explanation in the future. (I hate it when people ask me that question.) Then I explained that I get fulfillment doing other (non-income producing) things.

Speaking of which, I'm getting set up with a new blind person to visit! I tried calling her today, but she wasn't there, so I left a message. Hopefully I spoke loud enough and everything. Kind of of exciting.

We brought my Beag in to get the dealer-induced scritched-up dashboard fixed, and I have a loaner car while they're doing it. Its official name (made up by Dean) is the Lame Beagle. Lame Beagle is cherry red, and it's newer than mine is, but it's not a turbo (I immediately noticed the difference in how it drives... it felt so stiff and unresponsive, as if I was driving around in 3rd gear the whole time!!), it doesn't have a nice sound system (again, noticed the difference the instant I turned on the radio), it doesn't have heated seats (brrrr!!!), NO moonroof!! (dark and claustrophobic!), and even the horn sounds worse! Dean can't tell any difference between its horn and my real Beagle's horn (it beeps when you remote-lock the doors) but it's totally noticeable to me. All these things are probably very subtle and most people wouldn't even pick up on them, but I am very in tune with my car. Love LOVE my car! ♥ All those special little extras sure make a big difference.

Oh yeah, before the skinny-neck traction thing, the Arm Guy gave me an electrotherapy eel zapper neck/shoulder muscle treatment, with these conductive gel packs and a heavy heated wrap that goes on top. It felt really weird, like a large snail was crawling around on my shoulder. It totally reminded me of the feel of a creature I'd be pals with in Hawaii. I don't mean slimy, but like a subtle but strong muscled foot slowly moving around... a big snail, or a sea cucumber, or a crown-of-thorns, or an octopus or something. Very cool and strange.

Spider music = 'My Mind Rebels At Stagnation' and 'Discombobulate'. Also, Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini: Variation XVIII.I'm really tired tonight. But this is kind of addicting. It's best if you listen to spider music.

Semi-frustrating day, but I love LOVE my new tights and super-soft skirt! Best tights ever. They are very attention-getting, too. In a good way.

It's starting to actually look like something! Maybe I can do this after all. It's much easier with music. I like the part when you yank on it from the other side.

I'm trying to learn how to knit, using my new knitting board, and it's hard! As expected, I'm not good at it. But maybe I'll get the hang of it. Maybe. I'm very awkward at this kind of thing.

The wind was gusting so loud all night long, I felt like I'd be blown right out of my bed! It was extreme. Kind of cool, actually. But too much! I had all kinds of weird and vivid entertaining dreams, though.
