Noooooooooooooooo! When we were at CVS, I saw a front-page headline in the Hartford Courant that Shaw's is selling all 18 of its Connecticut locations, to Stop & Shop and Shop Rite! Nooooooooo!

is this cool or what?!!! As Secretary, I "shall have custody of the corportate seal of the Corportation" and "shall have authority to affix the same to any instrument requiring it"! Cooooooool. See, no wonder I gravitated straight for the seal embosser!

WOW!!!!!!!!!! PTX Capital Corporation is official!! We got a big fat dark brown 3-ring binder full of stuff (Dean found it delivered on the front doorstep just now!)! It has "Corporate Records" in gold on the front and "PTX CAPITAL CORPORATION" written on the side. Inside, a special corporate seal embosser is included. I figured out how to assemble it. There are all sorts of cool official documents, the Certificate of Incorporation, corporate bylaws, and stock certificates! I feel like I'm married to Alexander Lucard! :-)

P.S. Hahaha, it even has pre-written minutes for our first meeting, so we can slack!

First O'Rourke's and now this! I don't know if I can take so much excitement in one day.

O'Rourkes!I can't believe it... I'm at O'Rourke's Diner... with Dean! What a rrrrrrrred-letter day this is!

[Edit: Wowowow!!! It was his idea, too! We were going to go to the Forbidden City Bistro because Dean had a lunch thing and wasn't very hungry, but when we passed O'Rourke's I observed that it was open (it's only open for dinner some nights of the week), and since it was such a perfect opportunity, he screeched around and took me there! When he stepped foot inside and found that out all his fear and loathing about O'Rourke's was baseless (especially since its phoenix refurbishment), and when he saw the specials menu with a vegetarian fixed price dinner, and the real menu, with about ten thousand delicious-sounding items, he finally admitted that he was WROOOOOOOOONG about O'Rourke's and that O'Rourke's is great! Okay, maybe he didn't admit it quite as straight-out as that, but it was pretty obvious without his even having to say it. His vegetarian special was really really good (I even begged the waiter for my own instance of the soup, and I am not a soupy person), and my meal was fantastic, too! Everything was delicious. I got the lamb burger. (Maaaa!) Dean's came with a salad (with a very Lucard-y dressing) which we shared, the insanely tasty soup, a coconut-encrusted tofu on giant couscous thing, and a chef's surprise dessert (I stole half of it). O'Rourke's rules! I became a fan on Facebook using my Treo while sitting at the booth. :-)

Wow, that was invigorating!!!!! I wanted to mail Antonina's cardio mix CD today so she'd get it in time for her birthday (the post office is right around the corner, but it closes early on Saturday so I knew today was my only chance) and I managed to screech over (driving like Richard Manuel!) at the last second and get it in just under the wire. Cindy was literally turning out the light and about to lock the door (I was really really lucky it wasn't already locked... I was fully expecting to pull up, jump out, tug on the door, and find it fastened tight... I was kind of shocked to be able to slip in). I was slapping a couple of final pieces of tape on, and she said I had to hand it over immediately or the computer would go down and she wouldn't be able to calculate the price. Hahah. Very appropriate! I thanked her effusively for letting me get away with it.

I spent a zillion years tweaking everything over the past several weeks to get it just perfect (gave the actual CD a final test-listen while Thursday-ing this afternoon, using ancient technology: my old Sony Discman! I didn't even know I still had it... but I wanted to make double-sure the sound level was consistent between songs, and that the gaps were just right...), but then had to slap together the actual mailing. I barely had time to write the card... I started off neat, and ended in a huge scribble! And I usually take great pride in very well put together mailings. I did make a nice CD insert and wrap the CD, of course. (Very well, natch. Can't skimp on those things!) Anyway, I am still amazed that I made it in time. I think it was about 4:59 when I started the car! Lucky for me, I had a really cool looking mini Stride Rite box to reuse, so I didn't have to worry about any box embellishments but a label. :-)

[Edit: Just looked at the receipt, and the time says 5:02! Hmmmm, I wonder how it even worked, then??]

Oh, and I discovered another food I fear (along with scrambled eggs): oregano. OK, I don't really fear it, I just loathe it. We had some Franklin Mushroom Farm brand veggie meatballs for supper tonight, and the second I tasted that they involved oregano, I stopped eating mine. Which meant I only ate half a meatball. Dean was appalled, especially since (as he correctly observed) this means I will never buy that brand veggie meatballs again, and he, apparently, loves oregano. I then realized that the kind of pizza I hate features oregano in the sauce.

After dinner, I looked in the cabinet and observed that I do own a container of oregano, but it's totally full. Heh. I'm pretty sure an LC member gave it to me at my wedding shower. I wonder who? I'm certain I must still have the cards somewhere (I sure hope so, at least!), so I might be able to find out. (Not that I would hold it against them, or anything. Just for curosity's sake.)

Fantastic news! "House of the Rising Sun ("electric")" is officially (finally!) no longer in my iTunes Top 25 Most Played list! It has been bumped by "Gives You Hell" by the All-American Rejects, which is now in the #21 slot. Uh. Well. I listen to that song at New England Athletic Club a lot, when I'm using the Rotary Hip machine. (My fav.) And no, I'm not up on popular music... I discovered it because it was used in a Casey/Chuck YouTube video this past summer.

Ha!!! I'm straightening out my room, and I found this New Yorker clipping that I ripped out at some point (it's from the 11-9-09 issue). I love it! The best part is the caption, because I absolutely fear scrambled eggs. Just thinking about them makes me feel a little nauseated. But I massively want to eat all the stuff on that table--especially the thing that looks like my drawing of a goosefish! And all the huge kidneys (!), and the octopus (I like how he's reaching into the chicken blood soup, or whatever that is), and the pig snout, and the fluted-looking stuff (probably tripe) and the little bowl of eyeballs (?)... best of all is that it's garnished by lemon wedges. I hope they're meyer lemons.

Today's a Live 1975 "Mr Tambourine Man" kind of day. And I mean that in a good way.

*whimper* Robeks. I had a dream about Robeks this morning. My tongue is so happy.

What a crummy day: endless wind fiend, can't warm up, arm is all messed up again, new Facebook interface is horrible, don't have enough energy to do anything, and Chuck's on. Okay, none of those things are that terrible really. Except Chuck, of course. :)

Posted at 8:40:00 PM by Laura W. Petix.

Ow. My wonky arm is throbbing. Grrrrrrrr. This is seriously annoying.

Posted at 7:23:00 PM by Laura W. Petix.

I hate it when I can't warm up.

Posted at 6:06:00 PM by Laura W. Petix.

The most ridiculous part about the very short "Weird Foods I Will Never Eat" section of my Weird Foods list is that I have eaten three out of four of them. (I think. Or at the very least two out of the four.)

Posted at 1:26:00 PM by Laura W. Petix.

Weird, I just opened a container of Dannon yogurt that says on the front that it's caramel but it's actually coffee. Good thing I like both. But I've never had that happen before!

It's insanely windy again. I want to be warm. I was looking forward to going to West Hartford, but I think I'll wait until tomorrow, when it's supposed to be 38° and sunny (nice!!). ♥♥Tart frozen yogurt♥♥ and 40 mph gusts don't sound like a compatible combo. I read on the Internet that they have tart frozen yogurt at Stew's but I'm pretty certain our branch doesn't.

Oh: reminder to self, I should fix the color codes, because the ones I used are probably not technically legit. Have to get ready to eat now, though.

Posted at 6:00:00 PM by Laura W. Petix.

!!! My mom just called me and asked if I heard (or felt!) the power plant in Middletown exploding this morning! I didn't know anything about it. Wow. I guess I was sleeping when it happened.

Dean is at the hangar giving Tango an oil change, and I just finished updating my Weird Foods I've Eaten list. I changed the background color to white (and some of the edge colors, consequently) because it's sooooo long now, it's hard to read. I added tons of new foods and tweaked a lot of the entries. I hadn't updated it since almost exactly a year ago and there was so much to add. Now I'm all up to date and ready to try new weird stuff in Hawaii! :-)
